Oktoberfest may be famous for beer, but the wine traditions of Germany and its neighboring regions offer an entirely different way to celebrate the season.

Oktoberfest: A German-Style Wine Experience will take guests on a tasting journey inspired by the classic grapes, styles, and cool-climate winemaking traditions associated with Germany and Central Europe.

Rather than limiting the experience to wines produced only in Germany, our tasting will explore German-style wines from Germany, Austria, Alsace, and New York’s Finger Lakes.

🥨 Oktoberfest-Inspired Small Bites

Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy a selection of German and Oktoberfest-inspired small bites chosen to complement the wine experience.

The focus is on tasting, exploring, and discovering how Oktoberfest-inspired flavors interact with the different wines in your glass.

🍷 A Tour of German-Style Wine

Guests will experience a specially selected, complimentary tasting flight showcasing the diversity of German-influenced and cool-climate wines.

Each complimentary wine pour will include a brief and engaging presentation from sommelier, certified wine professional, and Head Swim Coach Jerry Hammaker, sharing the stories behind the regions, wine styles, terminology, and small-bite pairings.

No German pronunciation test required. We promise. 😉

🌍 Four Regions. One Wine Tradition.

Throughout the evening, we’ll explore how winemaking traditions take on different personalities depending on where the wines are produced:

Germany — A historic source of distinctive cool-climate wines and influential winemaking traditions.

Austria — Known for expressive wines, elegant styles, and a strong connection to Central European wine culture.

Alsace, France — A region where French and German influences meet, producing aromatic and expressive wines.

Finger Lakes, New York — One of America’s premier cool-climate wine regions, with strong German-influenced winemaking traditions.

All auction proceeds directly support Lock Haven Women’s Swimming and our student-athletes.
